History

The company Streckel & Schrader KG was established in 1923 in Hamburg, the historic site of hulling in Germany. The founders of the company were chief engineers at the traditional companies F.H.Schule, Kampnagel and Körber & Naumann. Most companies in this line of business such as Kampnagel, Hanseata, Huckauf und Bülle as well as Körber & Naumann have disappeared from the market for different reasons over the years.

In the beginning oat mills in Northern Germany, rice mills in Hamburg as well as the export of machines for rice and oat mills via the seaport made up the basis of existence for these companies.

The company Streckel & Schrader KG constantly developed their production programme further and entered into related areas such as thermal treatment of cereals in 1940. For 40 years the company Streckel & Schrader KG has been active in the field of breakfast cereals, for example cornflakes and crispies and their processing such as coating. The industry received additional impetus by muesli manufacturers and organic food over the past 20-25 years.

Today, after 80 years, the company Streckel & Schrader KG is represented in all important markets of cereal processing. A leading position was seized in the field of cereal hulling. Further development and improvement is necessary to successfully keep up with the changing demands due to the creation of large milling groups and constantly increasing demands in the area of hygiene.

Consumer demands have changed over the years. Today cereal products are for most people an important element of a health-conscious diet. Breakfast foods such as cereal flakes, cornflakes, mueslis and others have found convinced consumers. This health-consciousness increases the consumption of old and known cereals which are many times organically grown. Mill products have a future again.
